Overview of Your Tour

Ho Chi Minh City

Home to a wide range of traditional lifestyles, tropical fruits, local home industries, and a myriad of fascinating waterways full of life, the Mekong is a must-do day tour while in Ho Chi Minh. You will be collected from your downtown hotel around 7:30-8 AM for the journey. We’ll head out of the city through the outer suburbs and new high-rise residential developments of Ho Chi Minh’s sprawling metropolis and venture into the countryside lined with rice fields and tropical fruit plantations.

My Tho & Tien

Arriving at the small town of My Tho, you’ll embark onto a small but safe boat ride and explore the Tien — a branch of the mighty Mekong River, which begins its journey over 2,000 miles away in the Tibetan Plateau. We’ll pass by boats of all shapes and sizes, and admire the homes that line the banks. Along the way, we’ll stop to introduce you to local specialities, including rice-based sweets, fruit, local wine, and wooden handicrafts. We’ll also stop at an island to walk around a local family’s garden and see the traditional way of life that has existed here for centuries.

After a delicious lunch of fresh produce and locally harvested ingredients, we’ll get back on the boat and head to Ben Tre, where we’ll visit a coconut or fruit orchard or local honey producer — samples included of course! Around mid-afternoon, we’ll head back to Ho Chi Minh, filled with incredible memories and an understanding of local Vietnamese life.
