Day 1 - Arrive to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City anytime today where you will be met for the transfer to your hotel.

Day 2 - Ho Chi Minh City (B)

Step back in time on this traditional Cyclo Experience, wonder a colourful local market and discover the local hangout and coffee culture.

Travel By Cyclo

Connect with the local way of life in Vietnam as you experience a mode of transport from the past. The cyclo was ‘the’ mode of transport until the end of the 1990’s and there is no better way to get up close with the buzzing streets. The colourful wholesale flower markets are well worth a look and a walk-through Antique Street reveals items from a bygone era. Sample a common morning ritual of Vietnamese style coffee! Then meander into Saigon’s past, into a part of the city that has retained the old-style community housing. Walk the narrow alleyways between the houses and on to a bustling local market street.

You’ll end early afternoon with an opportunity to taste a popular street food dish – Bun Thit Nuong – before finishing at Ben Thanh Market, where you may choose to be left to explore and shop or return to your hotel.

Late afternoon and evening are at leisure, you may like to shop or relax back at your hotel.

Day 3 - Cu Chi Tunnels (B)

Uncover the underground home to Vietnam’s most renowned point in history – the Cu Chi Tunnels. Then journey to the ancient trading town known for its expert tailors.

Travel to Hoi An

Journey to Freedom via a luxury speed boat upriver to the Cu Chi Tunnels. Dug by hand, the tunnels were home to the Viet Cong during the US war. This impressive feat comes alive in the displays and a walk around the underground tunnels. Back in the city, you’ll be transferred to the airport for our short flight to Da Nang in Central Vietnam, upon arrival we transfer to Hoi An and your resort.

Day 4 - Hoi An (B, D)

Your ancient Hoi An walking tour brings you the fascinating history of this old trading town that is now home to amazing tailors and delightful dining options. 

Hai Café Cooking Class

An Ancient Hoi An walking tour brings you the fascinating history of this old trading town with visits to the historic buildings scattered around the narrow ancient walkways. Afterwards, choose to stay in town for lunch and shopping or enjoy your afternoon at leisure by the pool at your stunning resort. At the resort, you can also join in a Vietnamese coffee making class to discover how the traditional brew is made.

Late afternoon is time for a fun cooking class to learn about the local cuisine. Your chef will introduce you to the local ingredients, take you through the preparation and explain the Hoi An style of cooking. Then it is your turn to chop, grate, crush, slice, roll and cook the ingredients into a delicious meal. Your 5-course dinner also includes 2 additional Hoi An specialities – White Rose and Fried Wonton. These secret recipes are made by only 1 family in Hoi An and are included in the meal (but aren’t part of the cooking class!).

Day 5 - Hoi An (B)

We have included a full day at leisure for you in Hoi An, as it is the jewel to everyone’s visit. Relax, explore, swim or shop – the choice is yours. There are optional tours to discover more.

Optional Tours

Hoi An is one of the most popular places to visit in Vietnam with its charming old town filled with art shops, home-wares, cafés and tailors. During the 17th and 18th centuries Hoi An was a major Asian trading centre, it is a wonderful town for getting clothes tailor-made or for buying souvenirs. Hoi An also boasts an excellent beach. To discover more, we offer optional tours you can book with your guide (at an additional cost).

The Ruins of My Son – Between the 4th and 13th centuries a unique culture, which owed its spiritual origins to Indian Hinduism, developed on the coast of contemporary Viet Nam. This is illustrated by the My Son remains of impressive towers located in a dramatic site that was the religious and political capital of the Champa Kingdom during most of its existence. My Son is Vietnam’s counterpart to the grand cities of other Asian civilizations such as Angkor (Cambodia), Bagan (Myanmar), Ayutthaya (Thailand), and Borobudur (Java).

Countryside Village by Bike – Using quality local bikes your guide will collect you from your hotel for a cycle through the countryside to a local village where the way of life remains as it has for generations. You’ll see pottery making and visit the Tra Que farming village, with fresh vegetable gardens and many local farmers working in their fields using traditional methods. On the way, see small handicrafts, such as rice paper making. Lunch of local food is included before biking back to your hotel.

Ethnic Village by Jeep – Travel by American Army Jeep for an exciting ride inland towards the Ho Chi Minh Trail, through stunning countryside to a traditional ethnic community still living the ways of their ancestors.

Full day. Fitness: Vehicle. Guided.

These optional tours can be pre-paid with your tour or available for you to book with your guide prior to arriving in Hoi An. Alternatively, you can simply relax beside the beach or enjoy shopping in the old town. Your guide is always available if you need assistance.

Day 6 - Hoi An - Hanoi (B)

A magical sunrise Hoi An boat trip showcases the local life along the river that makes Hoi An so special. Travel towards Duy Hai fishing village, flanked by sampans and boats returning laden with squid and weary fishermen.

Enjoy the incredible photo opportunities as the sun rises, and the river and surrounding villages come to life. This is a rare opportunity to experience a true slice of local life. Stop to visit the countryside market – Noi Rang, just as the early morning trading begins. Return along the river back to Hoi An for breakfast at your hotel.
Then transfer for the flight to Hanoi and on arrival, transfer to your hotel.

Optional Hanoi Street Food Tour – For those who want to dive further into the local cuisine, your guide will take you through the bustling streets to showcase the cuisine of Hanoi, with stops along the way at several establishments to sample some popular local dishes. 2 nights, boutique 4-star hotel in the old quarter.

Day 7 - Hanoi (B)

Life in Hanoi showcases the people and culture of Vietnam’s capital city. A magnificent insight into what has shaped Hanoi city and her people – both past and present.

Enjoy Hanoi

See the Hanoi Opera House built between 1901 to 1911 by two French architects, then visit one of Hanoi’s oldest buildings at an Ancient House, dating back to the 19th century. At a local gallery, browse antiques, artefacts and art of Vietnam’s 53 minority groups in this blend of gallery and museum. At Hanoi’s fresco street, Vietnamese and Korean artists have hand-painted murals on 17 stone railway arches. These artworks create a space connecting heritage, art and community values. Then visit ‘Hanoi Train Street’ to see how the locals live and work just a few centimetres from the train tracks.

The afternoon is yours at leisure to wander the fascinating Old Quarter and shop to your heart’s content.

Day 8 - Halong Bay (B, L, D)

No visit to Vietnam is complete without a visit to majestic Halong Bay. A legendary world just waiting to be explored.

Board Your Boat

Departing Hanoi past scenic countryside to Halong Bay. On arriving at Halong Bay around midday, board your cruise vessel for a delicious buffet lunch as it sets sail out amongst the stunning seascape. Spend the afternoon cruising amongst the limestone islands with floating villages, intriguing caves, deserted coves, with the opportunity to Kayak, swim or enjoy onboard activities including sunbathing, traditional massage and cooking demonstrations.

Your cabin offers all the amenities to feel comfortable: twin or queen-size bed, air-conditioner, ensuite bathroom with shower and expansive windows providing memorable views.

Day 9 - Halong Bay - Hanoi (B)

For the early risers you can join in with Tai Chi on the sundeck, feel the early morning salt water scent or watch the sun rising from behind the mountains. Or simply enjoy dawn break with coffee and a light breakfast.

Back to Hanoi

Then cruise back to port with stops with stops at islands and bays before enjoying a buffet brunch at the end of your memorable trip. On disembarking return to Hanoi. Late afternoon arrival back at your Hanoi hotel. This evening is your last chance to enjoy the wonderful cuisine and shop for those magical souvenirs.

Today is at leisure until you transfer for your International departure.
