For lovers of the crafts, a visit to the Artisans D’Angkor in Siem Reap, Cambodia is well worth it.

Artisans D’Angkor is a Cambodian social business which was originally created to revive Khmer cultural heritage while helping young rural people finding work near their home village.

Since its creation at the end of 1990s, Artisans has strived to provide professional skills, education and good working conditions to its employees. It now provides employment to over 1100 people, including more than 800 artisans. Over the years, Artisans Angkor has become a real showcase of Khmer workmanship for its silk fabrics and garments, stone and wood carving, lacquer ware, silver plating and silk painting.

You can visit the hand craft workshop to see artists carving from the local sandstone and walk through the stunning shop displaying magnificent carvings, artwork and souvenirs. Or you can opt to go to the Silk Factory to learn how this traditional craft is performed.

Siem Reap is much more than just the Angkor Temples and having a spare day here is well worth it.
